As a child, cartoons were a huge part of my visual world. When Mickey Mouse entered the public domain, I became interested in exploring how such an iconic character could be reinterpreted through my own visual language.

Rather than recreating the character, I used it as a starting point to investigate form, memory, and identity through the cubist approach that has become central to my practice. This work reflects my research into how familiar cultural icons can be transformed into something personal while remaining rooted in my own mark-making and process.

Mr. Willie marks a new direction in my practice, bringing together childhood nostalgia, contemporary visual culture, and cubist abstraction into a language that feels distinctly my own.
